Our objective was to tailor Sky News Video content for use within the Facebook Platform.

Each day Sky News publish breaking news in short two to five minute video bursts on the web site and as an RSS feed. They wanted to make their content available to Facebook users in an appropriate way. With a previous agency they had created a Facebook app which shows Sky News headlines on the canvas page.

We sat with Sky News editors and producers to select a suitable application concept that Facebook users would like. Together we decided on a simple “channel subscription” tool where users could subscribe to one of seven Sky News channels – Home, UK News, Headlines, Business news, Entertainment news etc. Users subscribe to a channel and see latest videos in their profile.

Still in beta the app has been promoted on the Sky Intranet and is popular amongst users. We achieved the clients objectives.

Note that due to internal service issues related to the Sky News engine upgrade the app is currently offline
